Upcoming Patchwerks Events

At Patchwerks, a big part of our mission is building community around synthesizers and electronic music.  We host events in our building including educational workshops, demonstrations of equipment and techniques, and performances from artists. Patchwerks also sponsors events outside of the Patchwerks walls, and we list everything here.  Come join us!

SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 8PM
FENNESZ w/BRITTON POWELL & MAMIFFER

Using a filtered and treated electric guitar as the starting point for his lush soundscapes, FENNESZ has created a personal and groundbreaking discourse throughout his career. Perhaps sculpting the last truly unique vision for the guitar, his luminant compositions are anything but sterile experiments. FENNESZ’s world of sound unfolds and resembles sensitive, telescopic recordings of rainforest insect life or natural atmospheric occurrences, an inherent naturalism permeating each piece.
In addition to his prolific output as a solo artist, and his ongoing investigation of the limits of noise, automatic composition, field music or contemporary classical, FENNESZ is also a frequent collaborator with other luminaries of the scene. These include artists such as Alva Noto, Oren Ambarchi, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Keith Rowe, Peter Rehberg, David Sylvian, and Jim O’Rourke.

BRITTON POWELL is an American composer and curator living in New York City. Through means of electronics, video, and acoustic instrumentation his work explores psycho-acoustic phenomena, minimalism, and traditions of ethnographic music. The composer's new work entitled " If Anything Is " explores themes of hyper-reality and ambient capitalism by means of mixed-media environment for sound and multichannel video.
Powell’s music has appeared at venues around the world including Centre Pompidou (Paris), The Barbican Center (London), Today’s Art Festival (Den Haag), Ultima Festival (Oslo), Unsound Festival (Krakow), and The Guggenheim House (Japan). His work has been featured in The New Yorker, Washington Post, Bomb Magazine, and Wire Magazine among others. He has worked on recordings for Warp Records, Mexican Summer Records, Unseen Worlds, and Catch Wave Ltd. Powell works and collaborates with Jon Hassell, Lucy Railton, Huerco S, Matmos, and many others.

MAMIFFER is the experimental music project of Faith Coloccia and Aaron Turner, from Seattle Washington. Mamiffer intertwines elements of ambient, drone, and post-rock composition with ethereal vocals. The project grew out Coloccia's work wither her former band, Everlovely Lightningheart, and featured a rotating cast of collaborators with Turner, formerly of the band Isis, eventually becoming her primary creative partner and later, her husband.
Since the late 2000s, Mamiffer has released numerous albums, EPs, split releases, and collaborations including 2013's acclaimed Bless Them That Curse You, 2015's Crater, and the dreamy 2019 LP Brilliant Tabernacle.

Please note this event is 21+.
